Jerry Hjelm left his long career as an art director to live out his life-long dream to paint. In hundreds of works, he has depicted the Midwestern landscape is all its diversity of mood. Winner of the international Heritage Art Show two consecutive years for best new original painting and best new limited edition print, he was also given the Judges Award of Excellence in the same show. He has placed in the Top One Hundred four times in the Arts For The Parks national competition. His work is in numerous public and private collections.
Like so many others who produce amazing results despite challenges, his understanding and vision of his subject – nature – compel him to somehow produce the incredible images we adore, although Jerry is completely blind in one eye, and
has only 40% vision in his other eye.
